Northwest Alaska has been selected for a U.S. Department of Energy grant! The DOE’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations picked the Northwest Arctic Borough, in partnership with NANA Regional Corporation/Atautchikun, and Alaska Village Electric Cooperative’s clean energy project to construct a community-scale, high penetration solar-battery hybrid system on Tribal Lands and upgrade the existing power plant for full integration into the diesel system to serve the entire community of Ambler. This project will serve 112 electric utility customers in Ambler including all 77 residences, 13 community facilities, and 22 other electric utility customers including businesses and non-community facilities.
Our project was one of 19 grant projects chosen to develop and deploy sustainable clean energy solutions and expand access to reliable and affordable energy technology across rural and remote America!
