Public Services
The Public Services Department shall administer all borough activities relative to borough administered capital projects, public works, and public safety. These duties may include functions in the fields of fire fighting, law enforcement, transportation, disaster response and coordination, or other public safety functions consistent with such powers as the borough may from time to time adopt. The department will also serve as staff support for the Public Safety Commission and the Northwest Arctic Local Emergency Planning Committee.
STRATEGIC GOALS 2009:
- Plan developed to handle inconsistencies of roles and responsibilities within villages
- Water and Sewer meeting hosted.
- Communities encouraged and supported to join ARUC.
- Public Safety Authority evaluated regarding possible integration into the Public Safety Commission.
- Emergency Preparedness Plan revised.
- Fire training in place for all villages.
