Let’s Speak Ieupiaq
The Inuunialiqput Department is recruiting for fluent Inupiaq speakers who are and has background in editing and proofreading Inupiaq themes. The first phase of the project will be to translate from English to Inupiaq on computer and text.
Inupiaq Language Editor – must have computer knowledge using Inupiaq fonts. He or she must check the translated text for grammatical correctness, natural sounding phrases, and cultural appropriateness. 3 months of temporary employment with NANA.
Inupiaq Language Translator – will translate 50 pages of text from English to Inupiaq using computertized data base. Will work closely with the editor. Translator will represent the coastal villages of Noatak, Deering, Kivalina, or Kotzebue. 3 months of temporary employment with NANA.
Voicers - One female and one male representing the coastal villages. He or she will record 1600 lines of Inupiaq text in Kotzebue. 2-4 trips to Kotzebue over the year at 8 hours each. Applicants are required to finish the job until done. On call.
Sound Person – This person will be trained to record the Rosetta Stone Level 1 in Inupiaq. Must have knowledge of recording equipment in a sound-proof room. Will record 2 persons on 2-4 occasions. Have knowledge of Inupiaq language and must be concerned with quality recording, trouble shooting abilities, and computer knowledge. On call.
