Report by Vernetta Nay Moberly A New Radio Program |
The Inupiat Hunter was carved from whale jawbone by Lorin Geary of Buckland. Replete with ivory and baleen inlays, the sculpture was produced at the Buckland Art Center. The Art Center was the first facility completed by the Borough Economic Development Department for use by local Buckland residents. The use of the building was donated by the City and improvements, including a heating system and a full complement of carving tools and equipment was provided by the Borough. Lorin Geary provides oversight of the facility as well as supervision and instruction for the many youth who visit and use the Art Center. |
