| ANNOUNCING A NEW RADIO PROGRAM FOR
PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT ALASKA'S KIDS:
KIDS THESE DAYS!
This series of parenting education call-in shows is coming next week to
local public radio stations statewide. Listeners will get specific
ideas and practical information on how they can begin closing the
generation gap and start connecting with their teens. Learn and share
information and strategies that can empower all of us to act
effectively as parents and mentors to help the kids we love succeed.
THE HOSTS
Nancy Seamount - a K-12 counselor, high school health teacher,
drug/alcohol prevention specialist with urban/rural experience, parent
of one, and step parent of two - will team up with veteran Talk Of
Alaska host Steve Heimel to co-host Kids These Days. National and
in-state parenting experts will join them and they’ll take calls from
listeners throughout the state.
PROGRAM DATES AND TOPICS
Each program will examine issues related to teens and families, and
explore ways parents and other adults can support positive youth
development:
Jan-18-05: Raising Assertive Children
Feb-15-05: Teaching Character and Values Among our Culturally Diverse
Youth
Mar-15-05: Navigating Toward Healthy Relationships
Apr-19-05: Preparing For What's Next After High School
May-17-05: Alcohol and Drug Experimentation: Beyond Just Say No
Jun-14-05: Adolescents: An Untapped Resource In Our Society

WHEN IS IT ON?
Kids These Days will air the third week of every month during Talk of
Alaska, Tuesday at 10:00 am. The first program is set to air Tuesday,
January 18, 2005 at 10:00 am.
