Borough Mayor Siikauraq Whiting

 

Born and raised in Kotzebue, Siikauraq Martha Whiting has been married to Alex Pamiyaqtuuq for the past 16 years.  They have one child, Denali Quyanna Qapvik Aqumaq.

Siikauraq's parents are Inigaq Claude and Iyagiaq Ataataruaq Dora Wilson of Noatak and Kotzebue. 

She is a proud graduate of Kotzebue High School and received her bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Land Management from Sheldon Jackson College.

Siikauraq Martha Whiting was sworn in as the Northwest Arctic Borough's first woman mayor on October 9, 2006.
