Battalion Fire Chief - Kiana
Location: Kiana, Alaska
MISSION: Firefighting capability in each village is developed to ensure that
loss of life and property is dramatically reduced
Minimum Qualification:
• High School diploma or GED
• One year of experience as a volunteer firefighter
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Must be a United States Citizen
• Must be able to left 70 pounds
Duties:
• Serve as the operational leader of volunteer firefighters when responding to fires
• Discipline and train volunteer fire fighters under your command through routine and
regular exercises and demonstrations
• Fulfill all Northwest Arctic Borough Fire Department (NABFD) reporting
requirements regarding response to fires. This information will be used for ANFIRS
reports.
• Work with NABFD staff to implement fire prevention and education programs.
• Work with NABFD staff to schedule and coordinate training for volunteers on a
regular basis.
• Insure that all firefighting equipment and assets are properly stored and maintained,
used, and put away after usage.
• Appoint and notify a second in command officer whenever the Battalion Chief has
reason to be out of town.
