Public Safety Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION
Supervisor: Public Services Director
Salary: D.O.E.
NAB Classification: Partially Exempt
FLSA Classification: Exempt - Administrative
Hours Per Week: 37.5 hours

PREFERENCES: Borough residents, women, or Inupiaq minorities, handicapped or Veterans of the U.S. Armed Services. Inupiaq language fluency preferred but not required. Familiarity with the Inupiat Ilitqusiat philosophy and Northwest Arctic Borough communities and residents preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma.
- College degree preferred but not required.
- 3 years minimum of work experience with law enforcement or support to law enforcement or other public safety programs.
- 3 years of supervisory and managerial experience required.
- Must be well organized and able to work without direct supervision.
- Work experience that demonstrates great communication skills, including speaking and writing skills, managerial skills, mediation, collaboration and building partnerships.
- Demonstrated abilities and experiences to coordinate, conduct, participate in, and attend meetings with a variety of agencies.
- Must possess basic computer skills, technical writing and experience working with the general public
- Knowledge or experience in government affairs, particularly Borough and municipal governments in Alaska.
- Applicant must have a valid Alaska Drivers License.
- Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment with positive work ethics. JOB DUTIES
- Responsible for the successful creation and implementation of a public safety and law enforcement plan for the borough and its communities.
- Coordinates and supports law enforcement and public safety programs and services within the Northwest Arctic Borough. Partnering with other organizations that run programs within the borough.
- Ensures timely reporting and successful administration of grants and contracts received by the Public Services Departmen
- Solicits financial support, including grants, for new and existing law enforcement programs within the Northwest Arctic Borough.
- Reports on a periodic basis to the Mayor and Assembly on law enforcement programs and services.
- Travel as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
