Named after his grandfather, Suluuq is a self taught artist from Kotzebue, AK. Working mainly with walrus and mastadon ivory for over five years, Suluuq accents his work with baleen.

"Most of what I make are scenes from Eskimo life", says Suluuq. "From building an igloo to hunting a beluga, and hunting seals to sled dog racing."

Suluuq's expression and craftsmanship is revealed in his carvings, earrings and pendents.

Suluuq won "Highest Honor" in both carving ("Seal Hunter") and jewelry ("Eskimo Couple") at the 2001 Arctic Business Gathering and special recognition for carving in 2002. In 2003, Suluuq was awarded First Place in Antler Carving.
