Tom Noatak

A resident of Kivalina, Tom is a seasonal halibut fisherman as well as an artist. His unique halibut masks are a tribute to that exceptional fish. He creates the halibut mask using walrus ivory and baleen from the bowhead whale. Because he engages in a wide variety of activities, only a few of these striking pieces are crafted each year. Tom also takes pride in his earring creations, for which he uses ivory and baleen as well.
